What's GDPR ?

The GDPR replaces the earlier Data Protection Directive (95/46/EC) from 1995 and establishes a unified framework for data privacy across EU member states. Its primary goal is to give individuals (referred to as "data subjects") greater control over their personal information while imposing strict obligations on organizations (data controllers and processors) that collect, store, or process this data. It’s often considered one of the strictest privacy laws in the world due to its broad scope and significant penalties for noncompliance.

In essence, the GDPR aims to create a balance between enabling data-driven innovation and safeguarding privacy in an increasingly digital world. It’s a response to the rapid growth of technology, data collection, and cross-border data flows, ensuring that privacy remains a fundamental right.
